A Boulder, Colo.-based tech infrastructure firm has successfully completed commissioning a new ATSC 3.0-ready high-power UHF Channel 30 ULXTE90 transmitter from Gates Air at Sutro Tower in San Francisco.

It puts a big public broadcaster in the driver’s seat on NEXTGEN TV transmissions across the Bay Area.

The work for public broadcaster KQED-TV saw Signal Infrastructure Group handle the design, specification, sourcing, installation, and commissioning of the new transmitter. For SIG, it was considered a turn-key project to minimize the burden on KQED resources.

Donny Newenhouse, KQED’s VP of Broadcast Operations and Engineering, commented, “SIG was able to complete this necessary and complex upgrade, which allowed my team to continue to focus on KQED’s day-to-day broadcast operations.”
