The fate of an AM radio station licensed to E&R Broadcasting and an FM radio station owned by Covington Media is now known, thanks to a legally binding accord settled in a Covington County, Ala., Circuit Court.
The result? Christopher Harper will own the FM outright; he and another individual will equally share ownership of the AM.
It’s part of a legal settlement between Harper and business partner Robert Boothe that sees Harper paying Boothe $190,000 and two additional payments. One represents an outstanding balance owed to receiver Lee Knowles, while the second resolves a balance owed to Britton Accounting.
Mediation was needed to come to terms as agreed upon. This sees WOPP-AM in Opp, Ala., being transferred from E&R to Covington Media, a move that gives Harper half of the station’s ownership from Boothe.
WOPP is a Class B AM at 1290 KHz with 4 daytime towers at 2.5kw and 3 nighttime towers emanating 500 watts of power.
Also in Opp is WAMI-FM, and the settlement calls for Boothe to relinquish his half of the ownership to Harper, so that he will own WAMI in full.
WAMI is a Class A FM.
