A local memorial service has been scheduled for this Saturday (8/20) to remember Bob Sherman, who died August 14th after a brief illness at age 69. However, a memorial is also being planned for his many friends in the radio industry to share reminiscences next month.

The local memorial is set for Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 am. It will be at the Church of Saint John and Mary, 30 Poillon Drive, Chappaqua, NY 10514. We are advised that it will be in the upper church, which has a large parking lot attached, tucked behind Langes deli off King Street.

Details are not yet available for the September memorial.

“Bob had a big impact on both my personal life and my career, and I’m not alone; throughout his life he fostered and supported a number of people who owe a great deal to his insight and confidence in them. I’ve known Bob as a senior executive in radio, cable TV, theme parks, the internet and private equity, but most of all I’ve known him as a great, steadfast friend of over 30 years — and I miss him already,” said Bob Pittman of his longtime friend in a statement issued by Pilot Group. The two had most recently invested in both Double O Radio and Barrington Broadcasting Group via Pilot, but their association went back decades to NBC Radio and AOL.

RBR-TVBR readers are invited to post their own remembrances of Bob Sherman below.
