WASHINGTON, D.C. — Anna Gómez is already one step closer than Gigi Sohn was in her quest to be confirmed as the fifth Commissioner at the FCC.
The Senate Commerce Committee has moved forward with an executive session to consider her nomination, and those of five others put forth by the Biden Administration.
Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, will convene a full committee Executive Session on Wednesday (7/12), starting at 10am Eastern.
At the hearing, Senators will consider the nomination of Gómez to be a Commissioner for the Federal Communications Commission.
The hearing in Russell 253 will also see votes on the renominations of both Democrat Geoffrey Starks and Republican Brendan Carr to serve as FCC Commissioners.
Also up for consideration is the nomination of Fara Damelin to be Inspector General of the Comimission.
Meanwhile, a vote on Alvin Brown to be a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board in addition to Coast Guard promotions is on the agenda.
