In the summer of 2024, the Federal Communications Commission granted an assignment of authorization application requesting its approval of a deal that brought two FM radio stations along the Oregon coast back to life.
Now, one of those facilities is poised to be headed to a new owner.
Xana Oregon, led by Managing Member Tom Hodgins, is selling Class C1 KCRF-FM in Lincoln City, Ore., to PACNW Broadcasting LLC.
That’s an entity led by Jeff Montgomery, who is based in Seattle.
The agreement, finalized on April 24, sees a payment of $85,000 in cash. A $5,000 deposit has been made to Xana by Montgomery.
Serving as Xana’s attorney is Mark Denbo of Smithwick & Belendiuk, who was spotted at the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas last week.
Xana acquired KCRF as part of an agreement with Pacific West Broadcasting, parent of troubled operator Yaquina Bay Communications, forged nearly two years ago that also brought to Xana KNCU-FM in Newport, Ore. Those FMs went dark as 2024 started, ending a tough six-month period for Yaquina Bay, which also operated KNPT-AM in Newport, KBCH-AM in Lincoln City, and KWDP-AM in Waldport, Ore. Those stations also ceased operations after the company in August 2023 received a foreclosure notice. This came after Oregon Coast Bank initiated a lawsuit seeking recovery of outstanding loan balances in the amount of roughly $532,000, initially drawn in 2009 and in 2016.
Once PACNW closes on its KCRF purchase, it will become a sibling to KPPT-FM in DePoe Bay, Wash.
