Its mission is to connect Cape Cod businesses with local audiences through radio, digital advertising, video, streaming, and community-focused media. “We combine the reach of traditional broadcasting with modern digital tools to help local businesses get noticed and grow,” says the newly formed Salt Air Media.
Come November 30, this will be done through four audio brands, including three the company is agreeing to purchase from a local ownership group.
As posted on the company’s website, it is ready to assume control of WQRC-FM 99.9 in Barnstable, Mass.; WKPE-FM 103.9 in South Yarmouth, Mass.; and WOCN-FM 104.7 in Orleans, Mass. That’s expected in two months, with CapeCod.com included in a yet-to-be filed transaction awaiting regulatory approval from the FCC.
Terms were not immediately disclosed, with CCB Media agreeing to sell the three stations. They’ll be paired with WGTX-AM and W293DW & WGTX-FM, which also serve the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts.
Who’s behind Salt Air Media? That would be Gary Hanna, the individual behind “MixHits Radio.” That’s the entity offering custom formats and branded radio to businesses. Among the clients is Dunkin’. WGTX-FM was acquired through Hanna’s GCJH Inc., a Northborough, Mass.-based entity, for $180,000 in January 2021. In February 2024, it signed an agreement with the late Bob Bittner’s company to purchase what is today WGTX-AM and W268CP for $130,000.
WOCN-FM was acquired by CCB following its May 2007 announcement that it has scored an agreement with Charles River Broadcasting for the station; George Reed of Media Services Bureau brokered that transaction. By September 2009, CCB parent Sandab Communications and owner Stephen Seymour filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection; it restructured and retained ownership of the stations, which included WFCC-FM. In April 2026, a sale of WFCC-FM was agreed to, with K-LOVE Inc. paying $362,000 in a deal brokered by Bob Maccini of Signal Ventures.
