Salem Prepares For Regional Leader’s Retirement

On July 31, Salem Media Group will be celebrating the retirement of an individual who serves as a Regional VP for its stations in Cleveland, Miami, Orlando and Tampa-St. Petersburg while also doubling as the on-site VP/GM for its Atlanta station group.

At the same time, it knows who will succeed Mike Moran.

With Moran no longer overseeing the three Florida markets or Cleveland for Salem, it is handing the RVP role to Val Carolin.

Carolin will shift to Atlanta, and will also take on Moran’s soon-to-be former cluster role there.

Carolin won’t be relinquishing her current duties. As such, she will simply move up from GM to RVP for Salem’s Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., station group.

Who will replace Carolin in Greenville? A search is already underway, Salem says.

Speaking of Moran, Salem Media President of Radio Dave Santrella commented, “Mike has been an important part of Salem’s leadership team, and we wish him well as he moves into retirement. We are pleased with the depth of leadership within our company, which allows us to quickly fill his role and provide the opportunity for others to advance within Salem Media Group.”

Moran spent 15 years in sales and management for Katz Radio in Detroit, Houston, Atlanta and New York before joining Salem Media Group in 2004. He was promoted to the RVP role in 2010.

Salem Media SVP Allen Power commented, “In 2004 when I was asked to move full-time into a corporate role, Mike was my choice to take the reins in Atlanta. Under his leadership the Atlanta cluster has flourished in revenue, audience growth, and most importantly in impact.”
