Salem Media Group has entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of an AM radio station and its FM translator serving Miami.

It’s a move that will likely see Salem add to its mix of Spanish-language radio properties.

Salem has entered into an agreement with Actualidad Media Group to purchase the assets of WMYM-AM 990 and its translator at 98.7 MHz — W254DT.

According to Salem, the acquisition signals its use as a Spanish-language radio station, adding to properties in Dallas; in Portland, Ore.; and Denver.

“Salem is beginning a new chapter in Miami as we expand our conservative and family themed programming to the Spanish-language audience,” said Ed Atsinger, the company’s Executive Chairman. “Miami is an obvious market for this expansion, and we’re excited to add great signals like WMYM and FM 98.7 to our portfolio.”

For Actualidad, the licensee will continue to own and operate Spanish-language Talk WURN-AM 1040 and its FM translator at 103.9 MHz; Spanish Adult Hits WURN-FM 107.1 ‘Exitos’; and WLVJ-AM 1020,” said Adib Eden, Group President for Actualidad. “We remain committed to our audience, our advertisers, and our community.”

The transaction has been filed with the FCC; details including the purchase price are forthcoming.

Both parties anticipate closing around the beginning of 2023.
