LOS ANGELES — He joined conservative talk and Christian Talk and Teaching-focused Salem Media Group in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer. He would later serve as President of New Media and for the past three years had been serving as Chief Operating Officer.

On August 31, he stepped down from the role at the the company.

What’s next for David Evans? That’s not certain, as Salem Chief Executive Officer David Santrella commented, “David has been an important part of Salem’s journey and we are deeply grateful for his dedication, professionalism, and leadership over the years.”

What is certain is that Salem is in the midst of a leadership shift at the top, as Salem on August 19 shared that its Executive Chairman will be exiting the role at the end of 2025 — concluding an 18-year tenure for Ed Atsinger III, a chief architect of the radio station licensee headquartered in Ventura County, Calif.

“Over his 25-year tenure, Evans played a significant role in shaping Salem’s growth and direction,” the company said in prepared remarks distributed Wednesday morning. “Notably, he led the company’s successful follow-on offering in 2004 and spearheaded its expansion into digital media. Under his leadership, Salem launched and developed four major digital properties: Salem Web Network, Salem Church Products, Townhall Media, and Eagle Financial Publications.”

Atsinger added, “David’s impact on Salem has been profound. From his early days as CFO to his leadership in building our digital media presence, his contributions have helped define who we are today. We thank him for his many years of service and wish him continued success in the future.”
