For the last nine months, he’s been on the sidelines, after exiting in March as News Director for Nexstar Media Group-owned KTLA-5 in Los Angeles.

Now, Pete Saiers has resurfaced as the new VP/News Director for a CBS News & Stations property serving the Golden State’s capital city.

Saiers is joining KOVR-TV, known to locals as “CBS 13,” and its sibling, KMAX-31. He’ll also oversee the “CBS News Sacramento” streaming channel and associated website, starting Monday.

It’s a return to the station, where Saiers served as a Producer and Reporter under Sinclair Broadcast Group ownership, from May 1998-June 2000.

He reports to CBS Sacramento President/GM Deborah Collura, who said Saiers “embodies the caliber of leadership and industry expertise we sought for this pivotal role. His unparalleled understanding of the California market, coupled with his proven track record in major market news, aligns seamlessly with our vision to deliver exceptional content across our platforms.”

KTLA had been Saiers’ home from April 2021, when he relocated to the station from KING-TV and KONG-TV in Seattle, where he served as News Director. Before that, Saiers served as a freelance executive producer at KGO-7 in San Francisco. Saiers is perhaps best-remembered for his 11 1/2 years at CBS’s KPIX-5 in San Francisco.

“I’m incredibly honored and looking forward to joining the CBS Sacramento team,” said Saiers, who was a Beirut, Lebanon-based reporter before joining KOVR for the first time. “I am eager to collaborate with the talented team here, and together contribute to the station’s legacy of delivering impactful and engaging news coverage to the Sacramento community.”
