Sage Weil has gained a reputation across Wisconsin for his desire to establish a statewide hub of progressive-leaning spoken word content for radio listeners. Now, he’s ready to ship in his programming and sales team to Ripon.

An asset purchase agreement has been uploaded to the FCC’s LMS for regulatory approval that sees Weil’s Civic Media agreeing to purchase WAUH-FM in Wautoma, Wisc. and sibling WRPN-AM & W226CQ in Ripon, Wisc. for $1.4 million.

The seller is Hometown Broadcasting LLC, led by Thomas Boyson, who signed off on the APA.

With Kathleen Victory of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth serving as Civic Media’s legal counsel, Weil agreed to terms that will see the company assume control of the properties via a Time Brokerage Agreement ahead of an expected closing.

A $140,000 escrow deposit has been made and is being held by Gowey Abstract & Title Company Inc.

WAUH is presently branded as “Retro Radio” while WRPN and its FM translator are known as “The Wave.” Each station is best-described as having a wide-ranging Classic Hits format.
