In August 2022, the founder and CEO of Detroit-area headquartered Saga Communications unexpectedly passed away. Warren Lada stepped in as interim CEO, with Chris Forgy earning the chief executive title in November 2022.

Now, with Forgy as Saga’s top leader, a member of the Christian family has been recognized for his efforts and has been promoted to Chief Marketing Officer of the pure-play radio broadcasting company.

Earning the elevation from the role of VP of Digital Strategies at Saga is Eric Christian.

Christian has been a member of the Saga team for 3+ years and the company says that under Eric’s leadership, Saga has realized “extraordinary growth in both its
digital and terrestrial revenue.”

And, Saga says the promotion “further cements Saga’s commitment to integrating its on air programming and brand marketing with digital initiatives.”

Forgy commented, “This new appointment is well deserved and far overdue. Digital is the natural extension to our core competency … Radio! As our advertisers successfully build their business using Saga’s radio products, it now allows us to better provide them with the opportunity to seek customer engagement using the synergy created by our digital initiatives. With Christian’s new position and contributions, we look forward to continuing exponential growth in all our revenue platforms.”

Christian added, “Helping integrate our expanded digital offerings into our core competencies while maintaining our hyper focus on localism has been a wonderful challenge and one that would never have been so successful were it not for the myriad of dedicated and talented individuals who are the heart and soul of Saga Communications. Being entrusted with a role in ensuring that Saga Communications survives and thrives well into the future is a responsibility that humbles and honors me and one for which I shall endeavor every day to prove worthy.”

Prior to joining Saga in June 2019 as Director of Solution Architecture, he served as Director of Delivery Services for Xede Consulting Group in Troy, Mich. His background is in IT and software development, and spent nine years in the 2000s at National Logistics Management, rising to Director of IT during his tenure there. From 1993-2001 Eric Christian was a Special Education Teacher in the Grosse Pointe Public School System, the city where Saga is based.
