One of the nation’s top communications law firms has lured a 20-year veteran considered an authority on complex telecom matters to serve as its “go-to” attorney on key challenges impacting telecommunications, media and technology firms.
Kevin G. Rupy, the former VP/Law and Policy at the United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), has joined Wiley Rein LLP as a partner in its Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) Practice.
Rupy is widely regarded as an industry leader in traditional and emerging communications legal and policy issues, and Wiley Rein Managing Partner Peter Shields calls him “a nationally recognized authority” on “top-priority efforts to curb illegal robocalls,” among other things.
Rupy was at USTelecom for more than 13 years. Before that, he was an attorney at Keller and Heckman in Washington.
From 1990-1995 he was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is a 2000 Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law, where he was a Moot Court champion and was awarded the Mooers Trophy for outstanding trial advocacy.
Wiley Rein’s TMT Practice is the largest in the country, with more than 60 attorneys and engineers engaged full time in matters that encompass virtually all aspects of the federal, state, and international laws governing the telecommunications, media, and technology industries.
