He’ll join Sunny Leigh and Luke Dawg on Journal Broadcast Group’s KVOO-FM Tulsa mornings beginning 5/9. Yates spent the past 17 years as PM Drive Host at KILT-FM Houston and as host of nationally syndicated “Country Gold with Rowdy Yates” on Westwood One (he continues there as well). Prior to that he was with sister station KIKK AM/FM, worked in Oklahoma City and New Orleans, and served as a personality and PD in Texas towns like Brady, Bridgeport and Bryan-College Station.
“I am incredibly excited about my new opportunity with Journal Broadcast Group and KVOO. The company has such a great reputation, and the local staff has a tremendous desire to work hard and win. It was really a no-brainer,” Yates said. “I will miss Houston, and Texas, but Tulsa is going to be a great market for me. I’ll get to work with some really talented people and have fun on the radio.”
