Two years ago, he was appointed Director of Sales for Univision Communications’ radio and television properties in San Antonio. Now, with rumors swirling that Univision wishes to sell some of its radio stations, this media ad sales veteran with experience at Urban One and iHeartMedia is joining Cumulus Media.

He’ll be leading up the company’s audio properties in Birmingham, Ala.

Cumulus’ new Birmingham VP/Market Manager is James Robinson.

He’s been a VP/Sales for iHeartMedia in Washington, D.C., and before that was GSM of its St. Louis stations and, prior to that, of its Memphis properties. Before relocating to the Alamo City, Robinson served as Director of Sales for Urban One in Houston.

Now, Robinson reports to Cumulus SVP/Operations Mark Sullivan.

“I’m extremely pleased that James will be bringing his experience and talent to the Cumulus Media team,” Sullivan said. “I’m looking forward to many shared successes with him.”

Robinson believes that now “is the best time to work in Radio.” He singles out Cumulus for being “a dynamic and innovative company.”

Robinson’s experience also includes a role as LSM for “V103” in Atlanta, WVEE-FM, from August 2005-November 2010.

Cumulus’s stations in Birmingham are comprised of Adult R&B WUHT-FM 107.7; Sports trio WJOX-AM 690, WJOX-FM 94.5 and WJQX-FM 100.5; and “Talk 99.5” simulcast WAPI-AM & WZRR-FM.
