Rieffer: The Next New Leader For WBTV

The VP/General Manager of “FOX19” in Cincinnati who has been in the role since the end of 2021 has been named to a similar role at Gray Local Media sibling WBTV -3 in Charlotte, starting November 16.

As such, Jennifer Rieffer is preparing to relocate from the Queen City of Ohio to the Queen City of North Carolina, as she relinquishes her position as General Manager of WXIX “FOX19” in Cincinnati.

A graduate of Morehead State University, Rieffer started her broadcast career in Lexington, Ky., as a Traffic Assistant at WDKY-56 under Tribune Media leadership. She spent 24 years at the FOX affiliate, rising from Marketing Consultant, Sales Promotions Manager, and Sales Manager before being promoted to Vice President/General Manager in 2018.

With a sale to Sinclair scrubbed, Tribune’s stations ended up in the hands of Nexstar Media Group, as that company ended up successfully merging with the WDKY owner. With that combination of companies, Rieffer joined Sinclair’s FOX-affiliated WSMH-TV in Flint, Mich., as VP/GM, a role that also saw her preside over Howard Stirk Holdings-licensed shared services partners WEYI-TV and WBSF-TV in the Michigan market.

In December 2021, with Debbie Bush returning to Arizona to serve as GM of Gray Local Media’s KPHO-5 and KTVK-3, Rieffer joined WXIX.

Gray notes that Rieffer “has been instrumental” in WXIX becoming the official flagship station of the Cincinnati Bengals and the over-the-air partner of the Cincinnati Reds.
