SoldAn AM on the coast of Rhode Island, and an FM far enough off the coast to provide only a peripheral signal to the main part of the state, are going to a new licensee. The stations are WADK-AM Newport and WJZS-FM Block Island.

The seller is Astro Tele-Communications Corporation, headed by Gregory H. Birne.

The buyer is 3G Broadcasting Inc., headed by Bonnie and Kenneth Gomes.

The price is $800K, paid via a $50K deposit, $300K cash at closing and a $450K promissory note.
The AM, a Class D on 1540 kHz, is a day-time only news-talker with 1 kW off a non-directional antenna. It’s primary signal covers a portion of Providence.

The FM is strictly a Block Island facility. It’s a Class A on 93.3 MHz with 6 kW @ 256’. It uses an AC format under the moniker Variety 99.3.

3G has a pair of Florida stations on the Gulf Coast near the eastern end of the panhandle sort of between Tallahassee and Panama City. One of them is WOCY-FM Carrabelle.

The other, WOYS-FM Apalachicola, has been sold to a East Bay Broadcasting for $300K in a deal filed with the FCC 12/5/12. 3G said the deal is still pending and was approved by the FCC 1/25/13.
