He’s been a program director at radio stations in Des Moines and in Tampa-St. Petersburg and served as Director of Rock Programming for iHeartMedia in Washington, D.C., before taking on the role of SVP/Programming for the company’s Circle City radio stations.

In May 2022, Mike Killabrew drove across town to Cumulus Media‘s group of Indianapolis radio stations to become PD for Classic Hits WJJK, Rock WNDX, and Sports WXNT-AM. Now, he’s getting a promotion.

Killabrew is taking the role of Operations Manager for all of the company’s Indianapolis stations, adding Country WFMS, Adult Contemporary WNTR, and Top 40 WZPL. He’ll retain his programming duties for WJJK, WNDX and WXNT-AM.

“Mike is an impactful leader who has a strong track record of building and developing great teams, serving the community, and delivering results,” Cumulus/Indianapolis VP/Market Manager Darlene Park said. “He understands our market and our amazing brands will grow under his leadership.”

Killabrew first gained national recognition when he departed WRUF in Gainesville, Fla., then a Rock station run as a commercial operation associated with the University of Florida, to become Music Director of WMFS in Memphis. This was in August 2000. Six years later, he was Asst. Program Director and afternoon host at WXTB “98 ROCK” in Tampa — a pivotal move upward that transpired in June 2006.
