NEW YORK — The RAB, in partnership with Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Inc., have completed the 17th annual Rising Through the Ranks program.
The two-day curriculum focused on the specific needs of women in radio leadership as well as those aspiring to move into leadership positions. The program worked to enhance their overall knowledge and skills, starting with a virtual session on August 12 and continuing with in-person sessions on August 19-21, courtesy of BMI and presented at its Nashville headquarters.
Attendees were selected following an application process.
Sessions included such topics as “Beyond Management: Unlocking the Leader Within,” “Building Team Culture,” and “Having It All.” Featured speakers included Cox Media Group President of Radio Rob Babin; 7 Mountains Media owner/operator Kristin Cantrell; Xperi Corp. Sr. Director of Broadcast Strategy and Business Development Juan Galdamez; immediate RAB Past President/CEO Erica Farber; Guaranty Digital Media Director Kelli Frieler; Mississippi Association of Broadcasters Executive Director Amanda Fontaine; Davis Broadcasting VP Geniece Granville; RAB VP of Professional Development Kim Johnson; Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Inc. President Sheila Kirby; former Audacy COO Susan Larkin; RAB SVP/Professional Development Jeff Schmidt; Urban One Houston/Dallas Market Accounting Manager Erika Sylvia; Audacy President/CEO Kelli Turner; RAB SVP of Membership Brooke Williams; country music artist Trisha Yearwood; and Salem Media Group EVP of Operations and Revenue Development Linnae Young.
The curriculum was customized to feature practical and real-world applications that participants can immediately put to use within their companies and for their personal development.
“Over the last 17 years, we have seen over 465 broadcasters graduate from the program and propel their careers as well as their companies by the knowledge, growth and skills gained at Rising Through the Ranks,” RAB President/CEO Mike Hulvey said.
