Until now, Geoffrey Starks‘ stance on regulatory policies pertaining to broadcast media have seen limited exposure. As the newest member of the FCC, Starks’ efforts have largely seen the Democrat take a lead role in advocating for diversity within the Commission. He’s also been a big proponent of increased broadband access — a major concern in multicultural communities across the U.S.
In an eye-opening Hispanic Radio Conference LIVE keynote address and subsequent Q&A with RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R Jacobson, Commissioner Starks made it exceptionally clear on where he stands with respect to the nation’s airwaves. In short, more needs to be done to ensure ownership diversity, and a variety of broadcast voices.
