On October 1, 2021, Randall “Randy” Lynn Davis died at the age of 74. Davis was known in Rome, Ga., for his ownership and operation of WLAQ-AM 1410 and FM translator W245DG at 96.9 MHz. Davis’ will has been probated, and upon the grant by the FCC of an application, his heirs will receive a portion of stock in the licensee of WLAQ, making them the station’s owners.

Cripple Creek Broadcasting Co. is the parent of WLAQ and W245DG, and Sandra F. Davis, Randy Davis’ widow, will become the controlling shareholder of the company, taking 52% of the shares.

The children of Randall and Sandra Davis, Sarah E. Davis and Matthew S. Davis, will each take 24.0% of the company’s common shares.

Serving as the FCC attorney representing the Davis family is the Law Office of Dennis J. Kelly.

WLAQ’s family operation extends to its on-air lineup, as Elizabeth Davis hosts the Good Morning Rome! air shift weekdays from 7am-9am, while Matt Davis has succeeded Randy Davis as the host of Later This Morning from 9am-10am.

Premiere Networks-syndicated shows from Glenn Beck and The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show follow the Davis’ weekday programs.
