Sunday’s episode of “PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge” on Fox was reality TV with an ending that no script writer could have made believable. A Catholic Priest from Myrtle Beach, SC beat the pros and won big bucks.

Rev. Andrew Trapp is playing for the building fund at St. Michael Catholic Church, and that building fund is now a lot bigger. The Myrtle Beach Sun News reported that hundreds of parishioners gathered at the church Sunday night to watch as Trapp won $100,000. The priest was there, but had to keep secret the outcome until it aired on Fox.

The 28-year-old clergyman beat professional poker coach Daniel Negreanu in the final hand of Texas Hold ’Em on Sunday’s show.

Father Trapp will be back in December to play against three others who won $100,000. They’ll be playing for the grand prize of $1 million.
