The best this Nebraska trio can do is get secondary contours into territory rated by either Nielsen Audio or Eastlan, but the stations must be doing something right, based on the price attached to their sale to a new owner. Broker: Richard Chapin (seller)
The stations are KGMT-AM/KUTT-FM Fairbury NE and KWBE-AM Beatrice NE.
The seller is Siebert Communications Inc., headed by President Rick Siebert.
The buyer is Flood Communications of Beatrice LLC, headed by Managing Member Michael J. Flood.
The price is $7,000,000 cash.
The stations serve unrated territory to the south of Lincoln.
* KGMT-AM is a Class D on 1310 kHz with 500 W-D, 95 W-N, ND. KGMT gets to the Lincoln with its fringe contour.
* KUTT-FM is a Class C1 on 99.5 MHz with 100 kW @ 692’. The FM manages to throw its secondary contour over Lincoln.
* KWBE-AM is a Class C on 1450 kHz with 530 W-U, ND. It also puts a secondary signal over Lincoln and even picks up a piece of Omaha with its outermost fringe contour.
RBR-TVBR observation: To put this in perspective, the value of this deal, all by itself, is almost a third of the total amount spent on broadcast stations during the entire month of June. Pretty amazing for a 2 AM-1 FM cluster located in unrated territory.
