Stocks gained for the third straight week as the market rose Friday ahead of the three-day Christmas holiday. Observers credited generally positive economic news, including a rise in home sales, and congressional agreement on extending a Social Security payroll tax cut. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 124 points, or 1%, to close at 12,294. Broadcasting stocks rose with the broader market.
The RBR Radio Index was up 1.773, or 0.6%, to 296.670.
The TVBR Television Index was up 1.370, or 0.6%, to 242.292.
