92.1 WPTSThe Pittsburgh City Council has co-sponsored a resolution, unanimously affirmed by the Council, to declare 5/28 “92.1 WPTS Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. This resolution follows a second consecutive Top-5 finish for WPTS Radio in MTVu’s ranking of the best college radio stations in the country. It also recognizes WPTS Radio’s decades-long history of providing University of Pittsburgh students with hands-on experience in broadcasting and related fields as well as providing the campus and the surrounding community with high-quality radio programming.

WPTS Radio was conceived in 1957 as a carrier current AM station by a group of students led by Adrian Cronauer, who was portrayed by Robin Williams in Good Morning, Vietnam. In 1984, WPTS Radio received a Class D FM license from the FCC and can be heard at 92.1FM in much of the City of Pittsburgh. It is also available online at www.wptsradio.org and on many smartphone apps, including TuneIn Radio and iHeartRadio.
