MIAMI — His career at Univision spanned four decades. Since January 2018, he held the title of at what is today known as TelevisaUnivision.
Now, this Spanish-language noticias veteran is packing his belongings and heading a bit further west on NW 41st Street. He’s joined NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises for a senior-level position in its news department.
John B. Pérez is the latest TelevisaUnivision employee to transition from the company following the merger of Mexico City-based Televisa and U.S. Hispanic media giant Univision, which put Wade Davis in the CEO chair.
It also led to a host of executive-level changes, with TelevisaUnivision’s communications team getting a nearly complete overhaul. Meanwhile, Univision’s SVP/Associate General Counsel for Governmental and Regulatory Affairs, Christopher Wood, quietly exited in June, RBR+TVBR has confirmed.
Now, Pérez can be added to the list of ex-TelevisaUnivision staffers, as he’s taking the newly created role of SVP/News Production at Noticias Telemundo.
In this position, Pérez will oversee all production and technological operations and be responsible for studio and field operations of news productions. He’ll be based at the sparkling Telemundo Center, in West Miami.

Pérez will also manage the technical aspects of special news projects, including election coverage and the launch of Noticias Telemundo Ahora, a new digitally delivered Spanish-language 24-hour news channel in partnership with NBC News NOW.
He now reports to Patsy Loris, the head of Noticias Telemundo.
She commented, “John is a highly talented and visionary leader with decades of experience and extensive production and technical expertise. I’m thrilled he’s joining us at this exciting time at Noticias Telemundo as we ramp our coverage of this year’s midterm elections and work to expand the reach and scope of our news.”
At Univision News, Pérez was responsible for day-to-day news operations overseeing all studios, editing and field operations for linear and streaming. Previously, Perez was VP of Production Operations for news, entertainment and sports at Univision, where he managed in-studio and remote productions for news special events, sports productions and high-profile entertainment award shows.
