A low-power television station serving the city on the banks of the Monongahela, Ohio and Allegheny Rivers is being handed to a non-profit business development consortium of 32 public media organizations headquartered in Boulder, Colo.

Paul Koplin-led Venture Technologies Group on September 2 signed off on a donation agreement that sees its WBPA-LD in Pittsburgh going to Public Media Venture Group, pending regulatory approval from the FCC.

Handling the filing on behalf of VTG is Ari Meltzer of Wiley Law.

PMVG, led by CEO Mark Hand, has a core objective “to help public broadcasters more effectively compete in the rapidly evolving media landscape.”

In more recent times, it has championed American Sign Language emergency alerts via ATSC 3.0-powered NEXTGEN TV, and in March implemented an EMS in Cookeville, Tenn., in addition to expanded Spanish-language caption translation services in the Tennessee market.
