Here is your chance to express your opinion, and assist in the honoring process, for the 2019 Medallas de Cortez awards — the most prestigious and highly coveted symbol of excellence in Hispanic radio. But, time is running out — so vote now!

If you know someone who is doing great work in Hispanic radio, don’t miss the chance to spotlight their efforts with a nomination.

Nominations are being accepted in eight categories:

  • Marketer
  • National/Syndicated Personality
  • Local Personality
  • Program Director
  • Sales Manager
  • General/Market Manager
  • Station of the Year
  • Broadcaster of the Year.

The 10th Medallas de Cortez awards, sponsored by vCreative, is an integral part of the Hispanic Radio Conference, set for March 12-13, 2019, at the Intercontinental at Doral, just minutes from Miami International Airport and the headquarters of top Hispanic media and advertising agencies in Coral Gables, Brickell and Coconut Grove.

Nominations are being accepted through Friday, December 21.

“The Medallas de Cortez awards presentation is one of the most inspiring and memorable aspects of the Hispanic Radio Conference,” said Radio + Television Business Report EVP/Publisher Deborah Parenti. “By recognizing excellence in Hispanic radio, these awards pay tribute not only to some amazing and dedicated professionals in Hispanic radio, but they serve to energize and encourage others to follow their footsteps. There is nothing more rewarding than the honor of presenting these very special awards.”

The awards are named in honor of Raoul Cortez, founder of KCOR-AM in San Antonio — the first Spanish-language station in the United States, which debuted in 1946. Nominations are open to anyone, regardless of ethnicity, who is involved in Hispanic broadcasting. The goal: to make sure everyone dedicated to this segment of the industry has an opportunity to be recognized for their contributions to excellence in radio.
