Nine Utah LPTVs Earn Proposed Fine For Late License Renewals

A licensee of a group of low-power digital television stations all licensed to a rural Utah town popular with outdoor enthusiasts faces a sizable fine for its failure to file its license renewal applications in a timely manner.

The proposed fine is the result of tardy license renewal applications for the LPTVs, filed by licensee Green River City Television.

The stations are K15HH-D,  K16HD-D,  K17HW-D, K36PD-D, K35OB-D, K34PC-D, K33PK-D,  K30PN-D and K31OO-D — all licensed to Green River, Utah.

As such, the FCC believes Green River should pay a $13,500 fine for its transgressions.

The applications for renewal of the stations’ licenses should have been filed by June 1, 2022, the first day of the fourth full calendar month prior to their expiration date of October 1, 2022.

A filing of the license renewal applications did not come until August 12, 2022.

Why? We don’t know, as Green River did not provide an explanation to the Video Division of the FCC’s Media Bureau for its tardiness.

Green River now has 30 days to pay or appeal for a reduced or cancelled fine.
