Nick Pfeifauf dead at 77

WESH-TV (NBC) Orlando reports the death of retired anchor and news director Nick Pfeifauf from a heart attack. He was 77.


Pfeifauf spent six decades in media, beginning in 1954 at WTRR-AM Sanford, FL. He joined WESH in 1964 as a cameraman and soon ended up on the other side of the lens. He became an anchor, then news director and finally Vice President of Research and Development. Even after retiring from WESH in 1990 he worked for 15 years as a reporter and columnist for The Sanford Herald.

Throughout his media career, Pfeifauf was also a musician. He played keyboard for decades in Central Florida for his band, the Star Lighters.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15th at Markham Woods Presbyterian Church in Sanford.
