Nick Cannon gives deserving family new car, room makeover

After a two week search based on listener nominations, a family in New Jersey received a holiday dream come true this morning. Morning man Nick Cannon teamed up with his staff along with Family Dollar Store and secretly entered (his “Breaking and Entering” Christmas) the home of the unsuspecting family.

Tons of wrapped toys, electronics, and clothes were placed under the tree and even 92.3 NOW listeners made generous donations online to help out. The winning family’s living room received a complete make-over with brand new furniture courtesy of Landice Treadmills in Randolph, NJ and Michael’s Furniture in Brick, NJ. A catered dinner was also provided by Ann Claire’s in the Bronx.

As an added surprise, the family also came home to a brand new 2012 Toyota Camry in their driveway, courtesy of Toyota of Hackensack. “Everyone deserves to have a happy holiday and Toyota of Hackensack was honored to be able to give a new Camry to the chosen family of the 92.3 NOW Breaking and Entering promotion during this holiday season”, said owner Frank Holtham.

Cannon asked listeners to nominate a family they know that is struggling this holiday season. The family was chosen from hundreds of entries. Both parents are going through chemotherapy while raising two young children. Due to their extensive medical bills they are in need of financial help and couldn’t provide a proper Christmas for their children. They don’t know who was behind this holiday surprise but sources close to the family said they were all overjoyed to come home to a Christmas miracle.

RBR-TVBR observation: A great way to offer advertisers a new way to reach listeners—by integrating with the programming and pulling on the audience’s heart strings. This sort of thing doesn’t have to take place just during the holidays—it’s always great to deliver good will and kindness to those in need and listeners will remember the advertisers that did the deed.
