For fans of the Green Bay Packers NFL franchise, Willie Davis was a beloved Defensive End, across the entire 1960s, wearing No. 87 for Coach Vince Lombardi.

He concluded his pro football career in 1969, and in 1976 became a radio station owner, in Southern California. He then took on radio station ownership in Milwaukee, a successful tenure that resulted in his induction into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

Now, sports fans and media execs from across the U.S. are paying tribute to Davis, who died Wednesday in Santa Monica, Calif., at the age of 85.
