NEXTGEN TV Arrives In Nevada’s No. 2 DMA

A Deerfield Media-owned broadcast TV station operated via a shared services agreement with Sinclair Inc. has helped usher in the arrival of NEXTGEN TV to the Reno-Carson City, Nev., market, as it is serving as the ATSC 3.0 lighthouse for the DMA.

Deerfield-owned and Sinclair-run MyNetwork TV affiliate KNSN-TV has converted to ATSC 3.0 transmissions.

As such, it is offering its own NEXTGEN TV-capable broadcasts while also hosting KOLO-8, the Gray Television-owned ABC affiliate; Sarkes Tarzian-owned CBS affiliate KTVN-2; Sinclair-owned KRXI “FOX 11“; Cunningham Broadcasting-owned and Sinclair-run NBC affiliate KRNV “NEWS4.”

As joint sales agreements and shared services agreements are not computed in local ownership rule limitations, Sinclair is able to maintain a sizable presence in Reno.

BitPath, which is developing new data broadcasting services, led the planning process and coordinated efforts across the five television stations.

BitPath is making its NavPath and BitPoint precise navigation and positioning services available at no charge to Reno’s first responders.
