The Federal Emergency Management Agency, emergency managers and broadcasters are conducting a regional EAS test Tuesday.
The six states taking part in the test are: Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
FEMA will send an EAS test message through its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System from the exhibit floor of the International Association of Emergency Managers meeting in Las Vegas.
The test, slated to begin at 1:30 PST, is set to last about one minute.
FEMA is adding the national test code to the message, saying: “This is a national test of the Emergency Alert System.” We’ve reported FEMA has been conducting regional tests in preparation for the next nationwide EAS test for radio, television and cable systems.
