New York Festivals will honor the National Press Club with its Lifetime Achievement Award on Tuesday, April 21 at the inaugural NYF Storytellers gala, taking place at NAB Show in Las Vegas — which remains on schedule amid growing concerns tied to the coronavirus-fueled COVID-19 outbreak.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes prominent industry leaders and driving forces in the broadcast industry whose accomplishment have advanced their field and made a lasting impression on the industry.

“For over a century, the National Press Club has upheld responsible journalism, supported freedom of the press world-wide, and provided a forum for the exchange of substantive ideas in our nation’s capital,” said Rose Anderson, VP/Executive Director of NYF’s TV & Film Awards/Radio Awards. “Their members’ commitment to excellence encompasses all media. In this year marking the centennial of radio and our inaugural Storyteller’s gala, we are proud to honor this organization with the New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Michael Freedman, President of the National Press Club will accept the 10th annual Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the organization at the Storytellers gala.

“The National Press Club serves as a beacon for press freedom and an indispensable platform to educate, inspire, empower and protect our nation’s premier storytellers,” Freedman said. “Our goal, always, is to be accurate and fair and this honor from the New York Festivals will go a long way in helping all who cherish freedom to better understand why journalism matters. On behalf of our three thousand members around the world, we offer heartfelt thanks and a pledge to stay the course in search of light.”
