New and Traditional Tech on Subaru Special Models

Subaru_logoThere will only be a few vehicles available in a Subaru limited edition production run – 700 WRX STI models and 500 Series.HyperBlue BRZ models. They come with an interesting menu of infotainment options.

As one might imagine, both models are loaded with enticing features.

But when listing the many entertainment options, readers of RBR+TVBR will be interested in what was listed first.

Here’s the infotainment list. Subaru stated, “For 2016, the BRZ receives the STARLINK 6.2″ Multimedia System with a 6.2-in. single-touch gesture display, AM/FM stereo with HD Radio®, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Radio Data Broadcast System, single-disc CD player, Bluetooth® hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, iPod® control, iTunes® Tagging, a USB port and an auxiliary input jack. Smartphone integration features Aha™ and Pandora®, along with STARLINK cloud applications iHeartRadio®, Stitcher, Calendar, Music Player, News and Weather. New for 2016, the BRZ receives standard rear vision camera.”

The boldface type was added by RBR+TVBR.

RBR+TVBR observation: That’s a lot of competition, especially if your driving career dates back to the days when FM hadn’t even made it onto the dashboard.

But you have to love the fact that not only is AM and FM included, it’s listed first.

It is still going to require compelling content to make sure drivers and passengers are still selecting the AM or FM option. Subaru is giving local radio a fighting chance.
