NCE FM Translator Filing Window Extended Following LMS Blackout

ARLINGTON, VA. — Visitors to the FCC’s LMS across Thursday were greeted by a “system maintenance” message, blocking access to the important transactions database. As such, the Media Bureau has extended its filing window for new noncommercial educational reserved-band FM translator station applications.

The Licensing and Management System has had its fair share of downtime over the last year, and on Thursday the Commission acknowledged the outage.

“Our system is undergoing maintenance upgrades to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security,” it noted. “During this period, there may be a temporary disruption in service. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.”

That disruption briefly delayed or prevented some potential applicants from filing Schedule 349 applications in MB Docket No. 26-20. As such, the Bureau extended the deadline for filing applications for new noncommercial educational (NCE) reserved band FM translator station construction permits to November 23, 2026, at 6pm Eastern.

This extends the deadline from November 17 at 6pm Eastern and this new deadline will be “strictly enforced.”
