NBCUniversal and Apple have expanded a longstanding partnership by giving NBCUniversal the exclusive advertising reseller rights for both Apple News and Apple Stocks in the United States and, for the first time, the United Kingdom.
NBCUniversal is also unveiling a new targeting option exclusively for advertisers to reach premium audience segments, including luxury shoppers. “These privacy-centric targeting solutions protect consumers while promoting next-level ad effectiveness,” the NBC and Telemundo parent and Comcast unit said on Friday (6/17).
As NBCU sees it, the partnership gives marketers new content options, scale within new markets, and new ad technology for the news app. “Together, we are expanding on a key industry need: the ability to optimize privacy-safe engagement with global premium audiences,” the company says.
NBCUniversal has been the exclusive advertising reseller for News and Stocks in the U.S. since 2017.
“Expanding our work with Apple News underscores our mutual commitment to making News and Stocks the premier, privacy-forward destination for users, publishers, and brands,” said Krishan Bhatia, President and Chief Business Officer at NBCUniversal. “By creating expanded sales opportunities and product enhancements, we will continue to deliver industry leading monetization solutions for Apple News and its premium publishers.”
Publishers in the U.S. and U.K. have the option to be represented directly by NBCUniversal.
NBCUniversal will offer direct inventory from its culture-defining portfolio, including Bravo, CNBC, E! News, NBC News, and NBC Sports, as well as from its partners BuzzFeed, which includes BuzzFeed News, Complex Networks, HuffPost; and VICE Media Group, which includes Refinery29 and i-D.
More options will be made available later this year.
