NBC: “The Voice” wins 18-49 Tuesday

NBCFrom 8-9:01 p.m. ET, “The Voice” (3.4/10 in 18-49, 11.3 million


viewers overall) out-rated special competition to win the hour in

adults 18-49 and total viewers versus CBS’s “Rudolph the Red-Nosed

Reindeer” and ABC’s “Shark Tank.”  “The Voice” was also #1 or tied for

#1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all other key categories.  “The

Voice” is up 70 percent versus NBC’s average in the time period last

season in 18-49 rating (3.4 vs. 2.0) and up 85 percent in total

viewers (11.334 million vs. 6.116 million).

*           Despite the special competition, “The Voice” retained 98 percent

of last week’s total viewership (11.574 million), making this the

second biggest viewership for the Tuesday ” Voice” since October 30

*           “The Voice” is up 10 percent versus its 18-49 rating for the

comparable results show from the prior cycle (3.1 from 9-10 p.m. on

Tuesday, May 1) and up 27 percent in total viewers (11.334 million vs.

8.903 million).  Last night’s “Voice” grew by 0.6 of a point in 18-49

or 19 percent from half-hour to half-hour (to a 3.7 from a 3.1) and by

11 percent or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (11.9 million vs.

10.7 million).

*           From 9:01-9:31 p.m. ET “Go On” (2.5/7 in 18-49, 6.9 million

viewers overall) ranked #1 in the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and

Fox in 18-49 and matched its highest 18-49 rating since October 9.

*           In total viewers, it’s the top “Go On” since September 18.

*           From 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, “The New Normal” (1.7/4 in 18-49, 4.6

million in total viewers) finished #2 in the time slot among ABC, CBS,

NBC and Fox in 18-49, and matched its highest rating since November

13.  In total viewers, “New Normal” is up week to week by 14 percent

(4.591 million vs. 4.040 million).

*           From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, “Parenthood” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 4.9 million

in total viewers) ran #2 among ABC, CBS and Fox behind CBS’s

“Victoria’s Secret” special and ahead of ABC’s “Private Practice” in

every key ratings category.

*           Week to week, “Parenthood” is up 9 percent in total viewers

(4.902 million vs. 4.492 million), for its biggest overall audience

since October 9.

*           Keep in mind that last season, “Parenthood” originals added an

average of 47 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” ratings

in 18-49 when Nielsen reported “live plus seven day” results.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

*           In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The

Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.6/7; CBS’s “Late Show with David

Letterman,” 2.7/7; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 2.8/7; and “Jimmy

Kimmel Live,” 1.4/4 with an encore.

*           In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results

were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.9/4; “Late Show,” 0.8/4;

“Nightline,” 1.0/4; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.5/3 with an encore.

*           At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.3/5 in

metered-market households) trailed CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig

Ferguson” (1.4/5).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late

Night” (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped “Late Late Show” (0.4/3).

*           At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.8/4 in

metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25

markets with local people meters.
