At 8 p.m. ET, the premiere of “Fear Factor” (3.3 rating, 9 share in adults 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) grabbed NBC’s highest non-Olympic rating in the time period, excluding Olympics, since February 25, 2008 (“Deal or No Deal”).
In total viewers, it’s the biggest overall audience in the time period for NBC since December 20, 2010 (“The Sing-Off”). “Fear Factor” ranks #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and total viewers and is #1 in adults, and men 18-34 in a competitive time period that included CBS’s hour of “2 Broke Girls” (including an original), ABC’s “I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown” and Fox’s “Terra Nova.” From its first half-hour to its second, “Fear” grew by 24 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.6 from a 2.9) and by 11 percent in total viewers (to 9.2 million from 8.3 million).
Versus NBC’s 18-49 average in the time period last season, “Fear Factor” is up 94 percent (with a 3.3 rating vs. a 1.7, “live plus same day,” non-sports). In total viewers, “Fear” is up 69 percent versus last season’s average (8.779 million vs. 5.210 million).
At 9 p.m. ET, a second telecast of “Fear Factor” (3.5/8 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) built on the first hour by 6 percent in 18-49 rating. The 9 p.m. “Fear Factor” delivered NBC’s highest rating in the slot since September 20, 2010 (premiere of “The Event”) and biggest total-viewer result since July 4 (“Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular”).
“Fear Factor” ranks #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and total viewers and is #1 in adults, men and women 18-34 in a competitive time period that included CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” and “Mike & Molly,” ABC’s “You Deserve It” and Fox’s “House” encore. From its first half-hour to its second, the 9 p.m. telecast of “Fear” grew by 3 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.6 from a 3.5).
Versus NBC’s 18-49 average in the time period last season, “Fear Factor” is up 106 percent (with a 3.5 rating vs. a 1.7, “live plus same day,” non-sports). In total viewers, “Fear” is up 56 percent versus last season’s average (8.519 million vs. 5.451 million).
At 10 p.m. ET, “Rock Center” (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) equaled the show’s highest 18-49 rating to date. Week to week, “Rock Center” is up 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.1 from a 0.9) and up 17 percent in total viewers (4.003 million vs. 3.421 million).
NBC is #2 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and total viewers. NBC is also tied for #1 for the night in adults 18-34 and #1 outright among those networks in men 18-34.
