NBC says let there be Christmas lights

NBC says tonight’s (12/2) primetime 12th annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” telecast will go on as scheduled, despite threats by the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET-CWA) to stage some sort of labor action.

NABET said it might disrupt the telecast, featuring the annual lighting of a giant Christmas Tree, to protest stalled negotiations on a new contract to replace one that expired in March.

A company statement by NBC took issue with the union claim that management was dragging its feet. Rather, the network said, it was the union that cancelled three days of negotiations that had been scheduled in November.
