The Portland Trail Blazers and iHeartMedia Portland have reached a multi-year agreement to extend their partnership as the official broadcast carrier for Trail Blazers games across the Trail Blazers Audio Network. With the new deal, iHeartMedia’s KPOJ-AM in Portland, branded as “Rip City Radio 620 AM,” will continue providing pre-game and post-game coverage, game broadcasts, and ancillary content throughout the year as the station enters its 13th season as the team’s flagship station.
Trail Blazers Audio Network listeners will continue to hear Travis Demers calling all the action as he enters his seventh full season as the team’s Radio Play-by-Play announcer. Alongside Demers, Trail Blazers alumni Michael Holton will provide analysis on radio broadcasts throughout the season. Additionally, Rip City Radio’s Chad Doing is back as Radio Host on the Trail Blazers Audio Network of both pre and post-game shows with analysis of the night’s matchup and instant reaction following the final buzzer.
In addition to the game day broadcasts, which includes Blazers Gameday (pre-game) and 5th Quarter (post-game) hosted by Chris Burkhardt on Rip City Radio 620 AM, the station will enhance its Blazers coverage with the “Trail Blazers Insider Report,” a weekly one-hour show hosted by Sean Highkin, airing live on Tuesdays in the 2pm PT hour. A replay will air on Wednesdays at 6pm PT. Another new program airing Thursdays in the 6pm PT hour is “The Blazers Wrap Up,” offering a weekly recap of all the Trail Blazers news. It is hosted by Brendan Slaughter.
“Rip City Radio and iHeartMedia have been great partners for more than a decade, delivering the energy and passion of Trail Blazers basketball to fans across Oregon and Washington,” said Kevin Kinghorn, Chief Marketing Officer of the Portland Trail Blazers. “As we start an exciting new chapter, this extension strengthens our ability to connect with fans through additional in-season content and year-round programming, delivering the moments that make Rip City fandom so unique.”
“Renewing our partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers is an incredible moment for all of us. The Blazers represent the spirit of Portland—resilient, passionate, and deeply connected to their fans,” said Marshal Burgess, President for the Portland Region of iHeartMedia’s Multi-Platform Group. “We’re proud to stand alongside an organization that continues to inspire and energize the community, and we look forward to creating even more memorable moments together in the seasons ahead.”
