NABOB Goes Opposite Radio Show With Hybrid Conference

What do the NAB and the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters have in common?

NABOB will host its 45th Annual Fall Broadcast Conference and 21st Power of Urban Radio Forum in October, at a casino hotel and resort with ample meeting space.

There’s one key difference, however, for the NABOB affair: a hybrid option is in place.

NABOB on Wednesday (8/11) confirmed that it is moving forward with the opportunity for its participants to enjoy conference sessions “virtually in the comfort of their own home or office,” or in person.

The three-day affair is scheduled for October 13-15. And, while it involves a casino gaming locale, it won’t be held in Las Vegas. Rather, the event will be staged at the Urban One-owned MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino near Washington, D.C.

NABOB adds that its conference will again be held jointly with the U.S. Black Chambers, the national advocacy organization for Black-owned businesses.

The NABOB conference plans are a sharp rebuke to the Radio Show, a co-production of the NAB and the Radio Advertising Bureau. It was previously announced that the 2021 Radio Show will be co-located with the NAB Show in Las Vegas. The dates of the Radio Show are October 13-14, with the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino the locale for the in-person event.

As of August 11, neither the NAB Show nor the Radio Show are offering a virtual option.

For those who wish to attend the NABOB event in-person, limited capacity designed to adhere to COVID-19 protocols in Maryland are being adhered to.

NABOB says details for conference registration and hotel booking will be provided in the upcoming weeks.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Streamline Publishing is hosting in-person events scheduled for September 2021 and November 2021. These events are highly limited in capacity and are being staged in venues with the use of larger-than-normal rooms, with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
