He’s known for his roles as host of “The Masked Singer” reality competition series on FOX and for his time on MTV and Nickelodeon. He’s also the host of an eponymous syndicated radio show and a weekly Top 30 hit list.
Now, this multimedia talent has been selected to host the 2022 Marconi Radio Awards Dinner during NAB Show New York.
Getting the gig: Nick Cannon, who will be joined by DJ Scratch, providing music during the ceremony scheduled for October 19 at the Javits Center in New York.
The Marconis are returning in person after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic; Cannon’s selection comes following a now-concluded mid-2020 dust-up over anti-Semitic comments made on a 2020 podcast, for which he has apologized for.
Today, Cannon is thriving as the executive producer and host of his nationally syndicated radio show, “Nick Cannon Radio.” He also hosts “Cannon’s Top 30 Weekend Countdown.” On TV, Cannon is also executive producer and host of FOX’s hit television series, “The Masked Singer.”
Additionally, Cannon serves as the label head and music business curator of Ncredible Entertainment, where he has helped discover and develop award-winning talent such as H.E.R. and Kehlani. In 2009, he became the youngest television chairman in history when he was named chairman of the TeenNick network.
He’ll be joined by DJ Scratch, who co-hosts a weekday radio show with Shelley Wade on Audacy’s WXBK-FM 94.7 “The Block” in New York, where Cannon also serves as midday host via syndication from Los Angeles.
“NAB is excited to be joined by the talented Nick Cannon and DJ Scratch to honor the on-air voices and local stations that have shined brightest over the past year as we return to an in-person Marconi Radio Awards,” said April Carty-Sipp, the NAB’s EVP of Industry Affairs. “We look forward to welcoming the broadcast community to this crowd-pleasing and lively celebration of the best in radio.”
Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.
At the ceremony, as previously announced, Ryan Seacrest will be presented with the NAB Distinguished Service Award; Paul and Fred Jacobs will receive the National Radio Award.
