‘MVP Silenced By A Swarm Of Bees!

GLENDALE, ARIZ. — Here’s a radio station live remote broadcast that will keep the C-Suite buzzing for quite some time.

That’s because Bonneville International‘s KMVP-FM “Arizona Sports 98.7” was stung and prevented from delivering a live broadcast yesterday in the Westgate Entertainment District as part of its NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship coverage in this western Phoenix suburb.

With 20-year afternoon sports talker John Gambadoro on the air, a swarm of bees decided to make a hive on the net of a basketball hoop it set up for game-day fans to use before the 6:20pm Pacific start.

“Damn bees! Making a hive on our basket,” Gambadoro tweeted, posting a photo of the unfolding incident.

They also took a liking to a speaker set up perilously close to Gambadoro. This brought the live broadcast to a halt.

“Sorry for the technical problems folks. As you can see our broadcast location is on the wrong side of the police tape and the swarm of bees,” Gambadoro’s co-host Dave Burns said on Twitter.

A professional beekeeper was brought in to rescue the hosts, and remove the bees from their dual hives.

Westgate is two blocks north of the University of Phoenix Stadium and a popular pre-game destination.
