Nearly 3.5 million Denver-area sports fans can continue to watch their hometown basketball and hockey teams on free television. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has extended its broadcast partnership with TEGNA, ensuring 40 Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche games will air this season across two channels.
The deal provides for 20 Nuggets games and 20 Avalanche games to air locally on 9NEWS (KUSA) and My20 (KTVD) this season. The distribution arrangement delivered strong audiences last year as the Nuggets advanced to the NBA’s Western Conference Semifinals and the Avalanche reached the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.
All 40 games will air on KTVD, with five Nuggets and five Avalanche games simulcast on 9NEWS, the city’s NBC affiliate. Games will be produced by Altitude Sports, featuring the same on-air talent: Chris Marlowe, Scott Hastings, Vic Lombardi, Katy Winge, and Christopher Dempsey on Nuggets coverage, and Marc Moser, Mark Rycroft, John-Michael Liles, Kyle Keefe, and Rachel Tos for Avalanche broadcasts.
The games will continue to be produced by KSE’s Altitude Sports, which remains available throughout its nine-state territory on Xfinity TV, DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, and other local providers.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring this fan-first partnership with TEGNA back for another year,” said Kroenke Sports & Entertainment President of Team and Media Operations Kevin Demoff. “Last season’s overwhelming community response to this partnership reinforced our commitment to ensuring that the fans who support the Nuggets and Avs can cheer on their favorite teams even when they can’t be with us at Ball Arena.”
“After last year’s tremendous success as the official over-the-air broadcast home of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, we’re excited to continue this partnership for another season,” said TEGNA Senior Vice President of Media Operations Mark Cornetta. “The response last year exceeded our expectations, and we’re proud to once again provide Denver fans with the ability to watch their beloved Nuggets and Avs play.”
