We reported last week about a straight-up swap of a pair of AMs, one in Rome GA and the other just a bit to the south. Thanks to Howard Toole of the Rome GA radio group, we have learned that there is another piece to this puzzle.
The companion deal involves a third party seller and a second licensee name for buyer Rome Radio Partners.
In addition to getting WROM-AM Rome GA in exchange for WZOT-AM Rockmart GA, the principals of RRP are buying W276CL Atlanta Junction GA.
The FM translator throws 250 W from a short antenna on 103.1 MHz – the HAAT is minus 35 feet – but the signal is good enough to blanket Rome. According to the FCC database, the translator is still a CP.
RRP, headed by Managing Partner Toole, is buying the translator as Radio Quilt LLC for $15,000.
The seller is Pat Jarrell’s Alabama Christian Radio Inc.
Other stations in the cluster in addition to WROM and W276CL include WRGA-AM/WQTI-FM Rome; WRBF-FM Plainville GA; WSRM-FM Coosa, operated under an LMA with Coosa Broadcasting Corporation; and WGJK-AM, operated under an LMA with Woman’s World Broadcasting Inc.
