COVID-19 Boosters Get A Big Spot Radio Push

From 40-degree highs in South Florida and 15-degree temperatures bursting water pipes in Dallas, it’s been a difficult week for many across the South. Meanwhile, winter travel across the Northeast, Midwest and even locales such as Phoenix has been nothing short of a nightmare.

In the middle of all of this lies COVID-19, and increased cases in places such as California. Nearly three years after its arrival in North America, prevention and treatment remains important for many. As such, commercials tied to the novel coronavirus dominate the Spot Ten Radio report from Media Monitors.

As seen below, commercials for PAXLOVID dominate the latest report, while U.S. Department of Health and Human Services spots are now No. 3. CDC spots fell from No. 4 to No. 9 in the week leading up to Christmas.

Where does that leave traditional advertisers? Boost Mobile is the leader, while Kohl‘s, active in spot cable, is the top retailer using Radio. In fact, Macy’s wasn’t even present in the seven days when last-minute presents could have been top of mind.

State Farm, meanwhile, takes the auto insurance category crown for Radio as “Jake from State Farm” remains an omnipresent character across U.S. media.
