With Spotify and Pandora, along with iTunes, YouTube and Sirius XM Satellite Radio, nibbling away at U.S. radio’s total share of the human ear, some radio industry C-Suiters may be alarmed with one way one of the biggest broadcasting companies in the English-speaking world is raising awareness for its national Rock brand.


On Monday (7/1), on a cool winter’s day in Australia, Southern Cross Austereo will be muting everything but the music on its national Rock brand, Triple M: no shows, no announcers, no news, no traffic and no ads.

There’s a powerful reason why, and it’s getting lots of positive attention.
