It’s hardly a surprise that GEICO is one again the dominant leader in both the Spot Ten TV and Spot Ten Cable weekly reports from Media Monitors.
But, one competitor has clearly taken a preference to cable TV, over broadcast.
That would be Liberty Mutual Insurance, which is the No. 2 advertiser by spot count in the Spot Ten Cable report, falling from the No. 1 slot in the week ending June 21.
By comparison, “LiMu Emu & Doug” (pictured) are absent from the Spot Ten TV report.
There, the gecko and Flo from Progressive are the lone auto insurance category representatives:

In fact, the big news at spot TV is the resurgence of Macy’s, which has aggressively used broadcast media to tell people that shopping with them can be done safely, either in-store or online.
Meanwhile, Spot Cable activity, as shown below, includes an Amazon Prime Video campaign that’s increased in spot count — perhaps in an effort to get more cord-cutters.
